The Ultimate Exploration of the Original Trilogy

In 1977, Star Wars exploded onto our cinema screens, and the world has never been the same since. After the bleak and cynical films that marked the beginning of the 1970s, the public embraced the positive energy of the Star Wars universe, followed with fervor the coming-of-age journey of farm boy Luke Skywalker from planet to galaxy, and adopted the extraordinary characters he met along the way, such as the mysterious hermit Obi-Wan Kenobi, space corsairs Han Solo and Chewbacca, faithful droids C-3PO and R2-D2, the courageous Princess Leia Organa, and the terrifying Darth Vader, the dark emperor’s servant of the dark side.

Author, director, and producer George Lucas created the modern monomyth of our time, which resonates with the child that we have all remained. He achieved this by establishing Industrial Light & Magic, a company where he developed cutting-edge special effects technology, which he combined with innovative editing techniques and a powerful soundtrack to offer the public a unique cinematic and sensory experience.

In this first volume, conceived with the full participation of Lucasfilm, George Lucas himself tells us the story and plunges us into the making of the original trilogy: Episode IV – A New Hope, Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, and Episode VI – Return of the Jedi – through a multitude of fascinating details that reveal the creation of his unique universe. This work contains a wealth of script pages, production documents, sketches, storyboard excerpts, set photos, film stills, and posters, taking us on a true exploration of the original saga as told by its creator.
